
Ayvazyan Artyush
Born in 1938 in the village of Korkh, Abkhazia, Artashes Ayvazyan devoted his life to fine art, pursuing a professional artistic career from 1968 until his death in May 2025 — more than 57 years of artistic practice and creation. After graduating from the Institute of Fine Arts in Yerevan in 1968, he began his professional career as an artist and continued to create throughout the following decades, developing a distinctive body of work shaped by extensive experience, technical mastery and a deeply personal artistic vision. Over the course of his long career, Ayvazyan accumulated exceptional practical knowledge of painting and fine-art techniques. His works reflect the perspective of an artist who remained closely connected to traditional artistic foundations while continuously developing his own visual language and distinctive approach to composition, color and expression. His art was presented at exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including exhibitions in Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria, India and other countries, introducing his work to audiences far beyond Armenia. Ayvazyan's paintings also entered private collections in different parts of the world. More than 30 of his original works were acquired by private collectors in Armenia, Japan, the United States, France and other countries, giving his artistic legacy an international presence that continues beyond his lifetime. In his later years, Ayvazyan continued working independently, remaining deeply devoted to painting and artistic creation. His professional journey was marked by persistence, continuous artistic development and an enduring commitment to expressing the world through his own visual language. Artashes Ayvazyan passed away in May 2025. He left behind a substantial artistic legacy — original works created over a lifetime of observation, discipline, imagination and dedication to art. Today, his paintings continue to be preserved, presented and appreciated by collectors and viewers in different countries.
